This multi-dimensional artwork features the world's largest octopus (which happens to live in the cold waters of the Tacoma Narrows just outside of Seattle). Hand drawn over a 1947 map of the Tacoma Narrows and backed with a photograph the artist took of the Pacific Ocean.
Maps are designed on clear plexiglass - map lines are traced within the silhouette in white ink, creating original patterns from the topography or city block lines. Each map illustration is backed with an original photograph taken by the artist on location. The unframed, dimensional nature of the work showcases the map, illustration, and photographs in a single, contemporary design.
All maps are based on GIS, Forest Service Maps and historical files.
Size 12" x 12"
